A new Ottawa-based brewery will be opening its doors for the first time this week. Dominion City Brewing is a Kickstarter campaign-funded brewery that has been in the works since it made its pledge minimum last April.
The brewery raised $19,617 from 273 backers and will launch with three brands, including Town & Country (a blonde ale), Earl Grey Marmalade Saison (its take on a Belgian saison) and Two Flags IPA. According to the company, it is working with Ontario hops producers to acquire locally-grown hops and help to build up the hop-growing industry.
Josh McJannett, co-founder of Dominion City Brewing, noted in a prepared statement that the brewery’s beers will be on tap at four Ottawa establishments starting tonight. If interested, you can find the beers being poured at Bowman’s Bar and Grill, Brothers Beer Bistro, Union 613 and The Wellington Gastropub.
