The surprise news of the week has been the inking of a deal that will see McAuslan Brewing fall under complete ownership of fellow Quebec brewery RJ Brewers.
RJ Brewers acquired a 46% stake in McAuslan in 2008, but it looks like McAuslan’s owners are ready to move on. Terms of the sale were not disclosed, but following the closing of the deal. RJ Brewers will take full ownership of the brewery known for its Griffon and St-Ambroise lines of beer.
One of the more well-known Quebec breweries, McAuslan has made strong pushes into markets outside of Quebec, as well as maintaining a loyal following within its provinces. Whenever one brewery acquires another, there are always concerns about how things might change, but in this case, there doesn’t seem to be anything to worry about. According to RJ Brewers, the two breweries will continue to operate independently.
